Learning Partnerships
Intercultural Competence for Employees In The Social Field - InCoso
The project Intercultural Competence for Employees in the Social Field, is implemented within the framework of the Programme Life Long Learning and the new action line Leonardo Da Vinci Learning Partnerships. The project started in August 2008 and it is expected to be completed in July 2010.
The partnership is composed of countries with a high percentage of migrant citizens and long experience in intercultural issues while others only lately confronted with this situation and just starting to train in these issues. In this Learning Partnership project participate organizations from 7 EU countries: Germany, Belgium, Finland, Wales, Austria, Estonia and Greece with the Hellenic Regional Development Center. The partnership is composed of training institutions and NGOs (Non-Government Organisations).
The immigration in the European framework constitutes a reality that requires the adaptability of the social services, aiming at the smooth integration of immigrants and the maintenance of a balanced social environment. The need for the configuration of professional training in the education and in the social sector, so that they are in tune with the cross-cultural differences, is imperative. The project Intercultural Competence for Employees in the Social Field aims to deal with this need. The project will evaluate the existing ways with which the cross-cultural topics are dealt with in the partner organisations. A series of meetings and seminars in the participating institutions, where the training personnel, the students and the employers will participate, will contribute in the development of recommendations and proposals for the application of best practices. A database containing all these recommendations will constitute part of a CD ROM that will be created in the framework of the project.

The project began in August 2008 and is expected to be completed in July 2010.
