EQUIJOBS

EQUIJOBS is a Leonardo da Vinci – Transfer of Innovation project, developed in the Framework of the LifeLong Learning Programme of the European Commission.

The program starts in October 2008 and is completed in September 2010.The implementation involves partners from 7 countries. These are Greece, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Italy and Portugal.

This project arises from the need of rural women to enter the labour market of those professions and sectors present in rural areas in which men work mostly. To achieve this aim, training will be developed in these sectors for the improvement of their qualifications, promoting this way the employment of rural women.

The project EQUIJOBS has the following objectives:
• To increase women’s participation in rural economies through their employment, thus preventing the displacement to urban areas.
• To qualify rural women for traditionally male occupations, erasing stereotypes in education and in the labour market.
• To encourage the entrepreneurship of rural women.
• To implement training pathways and contents in male professions in the institutions of local development, training, equality, etc. in rural areas.
